What is RamBox — and why it changes what fits
RamBox is a factory option on Ram trucks: lockable, drainable storage boxes built into both bed walls, with lids that open from outside the truck. It is genuinely useful — and it makes the bed opening narrower and the rails different, so most standard tonneau covers do not fit a RamBox bed.
What changes for fitment
- The usable opening between the box lids is much narrower than the standard bed's width between the wheelhouses.
- Cover rails clamp differently because the bed wall tops carry the box lids.
- Cover makers sell RamBox-specific versions of their covers. A listing that does not say "for RamBox" (or "w/ RamBox") is for the standard bed.
How to know if you have it
Look at the bed walls from outside the truck: RamBox trucks have long rectangular lid seams and a keyhole/button on each rear fender area, and the bed interior walls are smooth boxes instead of open wheelhouse-to-tailgate space. Your window sticker and build sheet also list it.
Before you order
On this site, Ram trucks that offer RamBox carry a RamBox flag on their bed size page, and the fit notes call it out. Whatever you buy — cover, mat, or rack — filter for the RamBox version by name, and confirm the inside opening measurement from our measuring guide against the product's stated fit range.
